Mi Band 2 Review – Specs & Hands On

Xiaomi’s fitness tracker, Mi Band was one of the most popular and cheap offering when compared to other players like Fitbit. And the company has decided to upgrade the same with a capacitive display and lot more. This Mi Band 2 Review will help you to decide if it worth buying or not.

Mi Band 2 Review

The newest offering comes with a OLED display and a capacitive touch butting carrying the same legacy design.

The box contains the band 2 itself, the strap and the charging cable(the minimalistic touch). Oops! I missed the Quick Starting guide bundled with the box that really comes in handy.

What makes Mi Band 2 a good buy?

– Battery
The device comes with a bigger battery (70mAh) which can last more than three weeks of daily usage easily.

– IP67
The IP67 rating makes the device a completely water resistant one.

The bluetooth chip in the device is a Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy one, another reason for the long battery life.

-Heart rate monitor
The rear side of the device has two LED lights that illuminate the skin in order to record the heart rate.

-New Mi fit app
The updated Mi Fit app displays steps, distance, calories burnt, heart rate and the remaining battery on the device. A new addition is the heart rate sleep assistant, that gathers more precise sleep data by measuring your heart rate when you are sleeping.

Mi Band 2 Review Preview Look

The touch-sensitive key below the OLED display is made of anodized 0.05mm metal piece. Also the front portion of the device is covered with a scratch and fingerprint resistant glass.

You can manage notifications with Mi Band 2

The charging pins on the device are present on the sides. Another USP of the device is that it displays notifications for messages, email, calls, etc. right on the OLED display.

The Mi Band 2 can also be set up to vibrate when you have an incoming call on your phone.

And there is this smart unlock feature for android phones. Once configured, you can unlock your phone based on the proximity of your Mi Band 2. It is a nice little feature but sometimes might turn out to be annoying.

With all this adding up, Mi Band 2 is a great deal for Rs. 1999. You can gift one for yourself or for your friends and family, and it ain’t going to burn a hole in your pocket.
